The “new” New Covenant

Dear Jesus, you’ve been our best friend

But truly let’s no more pretend.

Like tables turned and anger just,

We’re called to judge – in fact, we must; love is a trend.

Oh, Lord, how can we turn away?

To do so is naiveté.

Too much transgression to distill,

There’s too much sin, too much free will in place today.

As your disciples, we’ll ensure

To judge and keep all people pure

With guns in homes and prayer in schools.

Through laws to bind and tighter rules, we’ll bring the cure.

This world has problems, that’s quite clear.

To poor and homeless: “Get careers!”

We won’t divert with ‘ozone’ lies;

We’re righteous ‘cause we legalize and save through fear.

So Jesus, glad we had this meet,

But love has got to take backseat.

The intervention’s overdue;

We love you, Lord, but in our view, you’re obsolete.

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” The Apostle Paul, Galatians 3:28

  1. Oh, Susan. This is so timely and heartfelt. And painful. We have a lot of praying to do.

    1. Don’t we, though.

  2. Pretty much hits the nail on our pointy head. 🙂 Good stuff!
    Thank you, Jesus, for setting us free from ourselves!

    1. Oh, amen to that, Mel!
