Unveiled

You called me salt; You called me light.

I pray my heart Your heart delights.

Your Spirit lifts, Your light is mine;

Through unveiled face Your glory shines.

With You the darkness flees the night.

Your word my love for You ignites.

I taste the bread and sip the wine;

Through unveiled face Your glory shines.

Let me absorb Your meaning right;

Oh, bring Your wisdom and insight.

You are The Branch, I am Your vine.

Through unveiled face Your glory shines.

Please help me, Lord, cleanse my own sight

That I might help us all unite

And heart to heart become aligned.

Through unveiled face Your glory shines.

Let’s love each other, do not slight.

To all, this message I invite

And welcome Christ’s commands consigned:

Through unveiled faces Glory shines.

  2. Okay, Susan. I have to say of all your lovely poems that I have read this one is my favorite! It drew me in immediately. I love the way the second line rolls off my tongue. I have to say that when I read a poem I first examine its meaning and how it does or does not touch me in the pit of my soul. Your gift of orchestrating words taps into my heart and soul. Thank you for sharing your gift with me and all who are blessed to read. Love, Dale

    1. Thanks so much, Dale. Sometimes, I have to work to get a poem to say just what I want it to. This one came out whole. So glad it spoke to you. ❤

    I especially loved this part because there’s no more important act than to love for one another, even though many think there is.
    Perfect! 🙂
