The Message is the message

Traditions and laws are clung to like white on rice

the same laws Pharisees believe are supposed to keep us

from doing wrong

raise stumbling blocks

preventing the poor, the elderly, the orphans,

the prostitutes, the addicts, the abortionists, the lgtbq

from knowing the heart, the love, the grace

of Jesus.

The apostle Paul said,

“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord

will be saved. But how can they call on him

if they don’t believe?

And how can they believe

if they haven’t heard His message?

If no one tells them

the Good News?”

The Good News is not

accusation, condemnation,

shaming, criticism,

gossip, abuse,

exclusion, judgment,

hate, revenge,

war, abortion, the death penalty

or a gun culture.

Some bitch and moan

because they want to be in charge

of who gets grace

and who gets mercy and

many walk away from grace

because it’s given to “those people;”

some bitch and moan because grace

is given to you.

“Love, love, love,”

sang the Beatles a generation ago and

a few got it but most didn’t; it became a temporary message, and

in that same generation, McLuhan said,

“The medium is the message,” but

The Message is the message.

The Message is love and grace and mercy

for everyone. Yes, even “those people.”

Even you.

After hearing these teachings, many of His disciples walked away and no longer followed Jesus. John 6:66

  1. Good words and I REALLY liked that title. Nice! 😉

    1. Hey, thanks! I appreciate it.

  2. Yes, the boys from Liverpool sang, “Love is all we need.” ❤ I wonder if they ever read Paul's words, "Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail. Love is eternal… Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:7-13 GNB). Or maybe they read John's words, "My children, our love should not be just words and talk; it must be true love, which shows itself in action. This, then, is how we will know that we belong to the truth; this is how we will be confident in God's presence."
    (1 John 3:18-19 GNB)
    Thanks for sharing this, Susan.

    1. Indeed, Michael. Now, we need to walk in it.

  3. Your words put hot stinging tears in my eyes, Susan. Your writing has become powerful, honest, blunt, and absolutely right on. The True Message is LOVE and you and I both know it. Bless you for your courage to stand strong armed with the armor of God. Bless you, my Sister. WE walk together stronger then ever!!! (((HUGS))) Amy ❤

    1. Amy, it strengthens me whenever I hear from anyone moved by the words I write. These words come from me, but they are prompted by the Spirit, and I cannot NOT write them.

Thank YOU for your heart, and having the courage to open it. ❤

    1. Thank you so much, my brother.

  4. I wish there were more Christians like you out there. You always make me smile and feel not so alone

    1. Oh, Melissa, thank you. I believe there are more Christians like us, but they don’t speak up – either because they think they are alone, or because they are fearful of being ostracized.

That’s why our blogs are so important. We must continue to speak out and reach more people about the true Message, the true Gospel of Jesus.

Thanks for being there with me.
