In Worship

In worship, God swells my heart glad

and He in my embrace is clad.

From Spirit is my worship born

at home or church (in joy or mourn), my own aubade.

This worship is not held to place;

Some find it best in open space

and seeing God is best observed

where grass to sky (it’s unreserved) reveals His face.

And others choose to meet at home

where Spirit reigns with peace and calm.

Their gift is hospitality

(and little ones can all roam free) while worship comes.

Yet others still do worship Him

with wafer and cup filled to brim

in edifice. “Our Father,” rings

and voices lift (the beauty sings). They share their hymn.

To what still waters you are led

in fellowship and breaking bread,

uplift, encourage, shine God’s light

and never leave (by being “right”) His love unsaid.

  2. Thank you, Susan, for a wonderful Sunday post. In worship I’m often led to the still waters in His heart where like a child on its mother’s shoulder I’m comforted by the steady tha-thump, tha-thump of His loving heart. Hugs and love, N 🙂 ❤
