You carry your love song to me
Through the verses of the day’s bird song
As I learn to hear your sweet voice
I’m carried by you all day long
If flitting on some finespun fronds
Or balancing on highest limb
Your voice arrives in known refrain
Ethereal and graceful hymn
Ah, robin, wren or nightingale
At sunrise or sundown you greet
This concert strums my strings of heart
And calms me with enchanting tweets
Your harmony restores my soul
The gentle notes speak of your grace
This feathered melody lays soft
The tender fleece of your embrace.
My heart is full, my peace complete
In this life only partly known
But summon me and I will hear
The love song from your voice intoned
For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
Zephaniah 3:17

Ahh…a beautiful poem and my beautiful Sweet Robin 🙂 Still, when I see him at my feeder my heart leaps with joy and at the hearing of his sweet song. Thank you Susan ❤

Love this, Susan. And I adore my birds and the songs that they sing. And I’m thrilled beyond words when I hear the tiny peep peeps of fledglings coming from nests or my birdhouses and then being able to watch the parents feed their babies. Have a blessed week. You just blessed mine with this offering. Love and hugs, N 🙂 ❤

You are a gifted poet, I’m sure you know. Your verses lift and float like bird song. Your sentiments are pure and ‘spot on.’ My favorite is the mockingbird. From what I have heard, when he is all excited and singing frantically, he is actually upset and warning off any intruders. Be that as it may, I love hearing him and I am aware of his song instantly.
I, too, am greeted by the birds morning and night. I have 8 feeders and keep them filled. On my morning and afternoon ritual of filling them, I am accompanied by my elderly dog Stella and by the Almighty, Himself.
blessings on you, dear.

How lovely, Kitsy, thank you, both for the compliment and the comment. Thankfully, my kitty loves to listen to the birds, too, and not chase them away. 🙂

Because Tubbs has become accustomed to watching the birds in my window feeder (that has a one-way mirror) and has unsuccessfully ‘gotten to them’ he seems to be practicing better manners outdoors, as well.

I miss the sparrows that were once so common here, Susan. We hardly see them about anymore. I think the magpies have chased them all away. I can see my mum, standing at the back door, tossing crusts to them and making come hither noises through pursed lips. And how excited she would be if she saw a robin. There is pleasure in hearing their song, for sure. Maybe there are more of them around than I’ve noticed and I need to stand at that door and look again.
Thank you for a Sunday blessing from the little ones, Susan. I hope you have a great day. ❤

What a wonderful memory, Anne-Marie.
Not only am I blessed with bird song every day, I am blessed with a kitty who loves to listen and watch in awe. She has never once desired to chase them. She sits at the back door or on the deck and simply watches, and talks back to them, or cocks her head in wonder.
You have a great day, too. 🙂
