Fog and Sun

When death did call the other morn

and shook me to my core,

too panicked I to call His Name,

The One to call out for.

Curled up in blankets, slept away

the day in dread and fear.

I could not cast aside the fog;

my thinking wasn’t clear.

Yet mercy riding on the sun

arrived brand new with dawn.

My God again has rescued me;

the fear, the fog, is gone.

I see some things from yesterday,

some lessons to be learned

and though I long to travel home

it’s not quite yet my turn.

Therefore, I must attend to tasks

entrusted to complete

and draw strength from the Spirit, my

enabler, Paraclete.

Although dark valleys loom ahead,

my heart He does console.

He opens curtains to green fields

and gives rest to my soul.

So tell of Father’s love I will

because Christ set me free.

Restored and saved, I thank you, Lord,

pure, unashamedly.

Through sun or fog, through rain or shine,

I must proclaim God’s grace

and pray the measure of His love

redeems the human race.
